Other Paris Thoughts...

Our hostel, well actually hotel, but we think they are using the term "hotel" very loosely, was decent- Hotel du Commerce.  The front desk was nice, and we had a private room with twin beds and our own bathroom.  But it really stinks and Paris and our room was no different.  The water really stunk.  Otherwise, it seemed clean enough for our quick stay and was in an easily accessible location...we figured out there was a metro stop right around the corner.

The Metro was really easy to navigate.  You just had to note the numbers, colors, and connections to figure out how to go.  It was easy in London too.  So this was a great means of transportation all around the stinky city.

The chocolate chip bread is delicious for breakfast, great with some espresso.  I also enjoyed an incredible crepe avec nutella and banana at a street vendor.  Yum!

We didn't find the French to be very friendly or helpful (not in London either).  The French will tell you they only speak a little English, but when you start talking to them, they suddenly know perfect English.  We did try to speak French, and got really good at pardon and merci.

I was happy to see the famous sites in Paris, but ready to leave when we did.  Next...Amsterdam...
